If you want a top quality, reasonably priced banjo, this is the one! Made right here in America at the Deering Banjo factory. The standard Goodtime openback banjo weighs only 4 pounds, so it is ideal for traveling, camping, hiking, or taking to the beach. It provides a vibrant singing banjo tone. The Goodtime banjo is light enough for children to hold and play and is the perfect banjo for a child to start out with. More people succeed in learning to play when they start out on a Goodtime banjo.
Teachers and professionals around the world recommend the Goodtime banjo!
We also carry the Goodtime Two banjo that includes a resonator. The Goodtime Two weighs just 6 lbs - about the weight of a guitar, and includes a resonator for a classic look with more projection than the standard open-back banjo.
The G-5P is a short-scale version of the 5-string banjo that is great for travel, or teaching children. The Goodtime Parlor is just plain cute! It is tuned in G just the same as a 22 fret banjo, but it is 4 inches shorter with only 19 frets. Whether you have big or small hands, it is fun to play!
The G17T features a shorter 17 fret 4-string neck that is typically tuned in 5ths like a viola or cello (C,G,D,A) This banjo is a great crossover instrument for string players! It is a delight to play with its short scale fretboard, slim neck and light weight body. The one in our shop is setup with Irish banjo strings tuned to G,D,A,E so that you can use the chords and tunes you already know on the mandolin or fiddle!
#GAM- The Americana™ is the first 5-string banjo from Deering to be fitted with their new Grand 12” rim, which gives the banjo a stronger bass response and a much warmer tone. The fullness and warmth of the larger rim is further enhanced by the addition of a 12” Renaissance head which beautifully complements the banjo both visually and sonically. #AG and AG2- The stunning new Artisan Goodtime banjo embodies Greg Deering’s lifelong vision for the Deering Banjo Company – to make the best sounding, best playing, best looking, and best value U.S.A. made banjo that he possibly could. The familiar rich dark brown stain, planetary tuning pegs and the addition of 5th string spikes at frets 7, 9, 10 for alternate tunings allows this light weight maple banjo to exceed the features customers wanted and needed. The violin-grade maple rim is made of the same wood used on the professional level Deering models and gives the Goodtime banjo a rich, full, round note distinction. Available in open-back or with resonator. NEW!
